A cleanroom is a specially designed room that removes contaminants such as dust particles, harmful air, and bacteria from the air within a defined space, while controlling the indoor temperature, cleanliness, pressure, airflow velocity and distribution, noise, vibration, lighting, and static electricity within a specified range. This means that regardless of changes in external air conditions, the room maintains the required cleanliness, temperature, humidity, and pressure. So, what are the construction specifications that Clean Room Construction teams should adhere to?
The first phase involves the installation of the Clean Room Panels. Construction waste must be cleaned and properly sorted.
A dedicated entrance to the cleanroom must be in place and managed by a dedicated person. The protective film on the Clean Room Panels must not be removed. Special circumstances require approval from the site supervisor. Power tools and materials used in construction must be thoroughly cleaned before entering the cleanroom. Shoes must be cleaned of dust upon entering the cleanroom, and work clothes must be kept clean and tidy. Smoking is prohibited within the cleanroom, and food and beverages are not permitted. Cutting and grinding operations must be performed in designated areas, and a vacuum cleaner must be used during all cutting, grinding, and drilling operations. All trash and used materials must be removed daily or as required.
The second phase involves the installation of equipment such as air conditioners and dehumidifiers, self-leveling, and PVC flooring. Construction personnel entering the cleanroom must undergo training and pass the training before entering. The cleanroom must be cleaned daily by a dedicated person. A guard post, shoe racks, and buffer zones must be set up at the entrance to ensure shoe changes are in place.
Access Control: Access and exit channels for personnel and materials must be established by area, with dedicated personnel posted to manage them. An entry and exit registration system must be implemented, and construction personnel entering the cleanroom must arrange their clothing, tools, and materials before entering.
Construction teams must maintain uniform and neat clothing.
A cutting room, such as for screw cutting and arc cutting, must be established in the cleanroom area. Cutting materials must be cleaned before use. Cutters must use a vacuum cleaner to remove dust generated during the cutting process.
Cutting and grinding work must be approved in advance, isolated, and safety measures must be in place during the work.
Vacuums must be used at all times. Unpacking must be done in a designated area, and outer packaging must be removed outside the cleanroom.
Corrugated cardboard and wood must not be used in the cleanroom area.
The third phase is the period of air conditioning blow-down, operation, commissioning, and inspection, requiring the highest level of contamination control. During this phase, a guard will be posted at the Cleanroom Entrance. Entry and exit will be registered and issued passes. Other parties (such as the client, supervisor, designer, and construction cooperating parties, who must first register and apply for passes) also use these passes to enter and exit the cleanroom. Cleaning and sweeping will begin at this time, and personnel entering the cleanroom must wear cleanroom clothing, clean masks, clean hair covers, and clean gloves.
A single entrance and exit will be provided at the air shower room, and all other entrances will be closed to control access. Control personnel will be required to record the entry and exit of construction personnel, tools, and materials.
All contractors entering the cleanroom for construction must submit an application as required and may only enter after approval. Applications for the second day's work will be submitted in the afternoon of the first day. The cleanroom construction team leader must carry the application form with them for easy reference. Construction personnel entering the cleanroom must register their real names.
Prepare cleaning supplies such as plastic sheeting, tape, stainless steel plates, a cleanroom vacuum cleaner, and clean or lint-free rags, depending on the work situation.
Fully understand the company's general cleanroom operating regulations. For example, wood, non-cleanroom paper, and signature pens are prohibited. Drawings brought into the cleanroom must be laminated or taped.
Only construction personnel are allowed to enter and exit the cleanroom, and must wear badges.
Personnel entering the cleanroom must wear a full cleanroom suit, including a mask, headband, gloves, and clean shoes. The cuffs of the cleanroom suit must cover the glove openings.
Personnel entering the cleanroom must wear a cleanroom restricted area construction permit and a hard hat. Safety belts must be worn when working at heights above 2 meters.
Before entering the cleanroom, construction tools, materials, and accessories must be cleaned and wiped clean outside. They must be free of oil, rust, and dust.
Non-essential items, such as food, beverages, cigarettes, and lighters, are prohibited from entering the cleanroom.
Drilling, cutting, and other operations are prohibited within the cleanroom. If necessary, permission must be obtained from the owner or general contractor's engineer for each project.
Strictly follow designated entrances and exits for cleanroom use. Large equipment must be cleaned outside the cleanroom and then entered through the equipment door.
Personnel entering and exiting the cleanroom must wear clean work clothes, and after the HEPA filter is installed, they must wear cleanroom clothing.
Construction tools and equipment must be clearly marked with the supplier's logo. All power equipment within the cleanroom must be primarily electric; gasoline or diesel power is prohibited. Users must request this prior to use.
Only use trucks with rubber wheels, and securely tape the tires.
Fume-generating tools such as welders and cutters are prohibited in the cleanroom.
Workers are strictly prohibited from touching installed equipment or standing on top of it.
If necessary, the fingers of clean gloves may be cut off to facilitate detailed work.
Smoking, eating candy, or any other food is prohibited in the cleanroom.
Oil fuels are not permitted, and oil from tools must not leak.
A clean aluminum ladder must be used, and the legs must be wrapped and tied tightly with a dust-free cloth to prevent damage to the floor.
When handling tools or materials, they must be kept completely off the floor. Do not drag them on the floor to prevent damage.
All construction areas and areas where materials and tools are stored must be protected (first with plastic sheeting, then with buffer boards of appropriate thickness).
When welding, if necessary, the floor and surrounding walls must be protected appropriately.
When conducting any contaminating work, the construction area must be cordoned off with plastic sheeting. If there are safety hazards at the construction site, the work area must be clearly marked.
Construction workers must obey and cooperate with the instructions of the responsible engineer.
Only trucks with rubber wheels are allowed, and the tires must be securely taped.
The transport route must be protected by cushioning mats.
Plastic sheeting should be laid before cushioning mats are laid.
Except for construction work, no personnel may remove the raised floor. If removal is unavoidable, it must be restored as quickly as possible.
When removing the raised floor during construction, the raised floor must be placed face-to-face, and appropriate safety fences must be established around it.
